SBA to Pause New Status Applications for Upgrade

It’s an open secret that the application processes for size and status programs administered by the Small Business Administration can be slow. Now, those processes are about to get even slower.

According to an announcement and fact sheet recently published on the SBA’s “Certify” website, SBA plans to temporarily pause new applications to the 8(a), WOSB, EDWSOB, VOSB, SDVOSB, and HUBZone programs so that they can upgrade their certification interface.

The pause is expected to begin on August 1, 2024, and last through early September.

What does this mean for you? If you’re anxious to get started on joining one of these valuable certification programs, you should hurry to get your application in before the August 1 deadline. Existing applications will be processed during the pause. If you’d prefer to wait, you can still work on compiling your application material now, to be ready to go when the SBA reopens for business. Either way, contact us now to discuss your next steps!
